HGV Driver

Job Introduction

Carr's Flour Mills is one of the UK's leading flour milling businesses, supplying high-quality flour to customers nationwide. We are looking for a professional and safety-conscious HGV Driver to join our team based in Maldon.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced driver who enjoys delivering outstanding customer service and takes pride in representing a respected British manufacturing business.

The Role

As an HGV Driver, you will be responsible for delivering bagged flour to customer sites across the UK in a safe, legal and timely manner. This is a multi-drop role that involves regular manual handling of products, so a good level of physical fitness is essential.

You will be expected to maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance and professionalism whilst acting as an ambassador for Carr's Flour Mills at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete daily vehicle and equipment checks in accordance with EU legislation and company procedures.
• Drive and operate company HGVs safely and legally in line with the Highway Code and company standards.
• Deliver bagged flour to customers on a multi-drop basis.
• Ensure all loads are safe, secure and compliant before commencing journeys.
• Maintain accurate delivery, tachograph and legal compliance records.
• Comply with Driver Hours and Working Time Regulations.
• Provide a professional, courteous and positive experience for customers and members of the public.
• Report vehicle defects, incidents or delivery issues promptly.
• Contribute to the cleanliness and upkeep of company vehicles, including washing, sweeping and basic housekeeping tasks.

What We're Looking For:

Essential

• Category C+E (Class 1) Licence.
• Minimum 2 years' HGV driving experience.
• Driver CPC Qualification Card.
• Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent timekeeping and reliability.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Flexible approach to working hours and operational requirements.
• Strong work ethic with a keen attention to detail.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.

Desirable

• Bulk tanker experience.
• Tipping experience.
• Experience within food manufacturing, flour milling or FMCG environments.

Working Hours

• The Shift pattern for this role is: Monday to Friday 48 hours per week minimum. 
• Early starts with overtime as required.
• Occasional weekend work and overnights.
